    Thank you for sharing your thoughts on different supplies. It has guided me when I purchase supplies. I appreciate that you sell your art in an ethical way, making sure the colors you use are light fast. Hope you have a more restful night, and especially hope that you are still in remission!

    It only seems to get better and better from there, a relaxed authenticity arises. Like you said recently, you can’t pour from an empty cup. It is lovely seeing you successfully walk through these passages.

    Our Daniel Smith palettes must be pretty much identical...haha, except I always get sap green in the 15 ml because I use it a lot with botanicals. I love Dr Ph Martins inks and actually have several of them that I purchased a few years ago. As for Posca, I also love using them. I generally use them with my Arrtx acrylic brush pens. I go through the white paints pens pretty fast when I am making abstracts. They are wonderful for mark-making. I don't worry about lightfastness with them because it's almost always in a sketchbook. I've been following Helen Wells and she is so inspiring for abstracts. Oh my, you hit the jackpot with the etchr sketchbooks! I love Blick customer service. I would order more from them but it always takes at least a week and a half to get to me. That being said, I almost always have an order in every month. Hmmmm, I think there is such a thing as an art mid-life crises. It can strike at any age. I had one when I made the decision that I was not going to pursue a professional career any longer. It made my art so stressful, and it required for me to work hard at getting my art out there. Dang, working hard is not what I want to do in my late 60s. Then I realized that I could make whatever floats my boat, and started exploring and quickly realized that I had absolutely no idea what the hell I was doing. Your skillshare sponsorship came in at the perfect time. I signed up for the trial membership and when I went to cancel at the end, they offered a year at 1/2 price. Heck yes! Oh, I am so sorry to hear you are getting breakthrough symptoms. I am keeping my fingers crossed and sending love and hugs with hopes that you are still in remission! Can you tell I am typing while you are filming? lol Gonna sign off even though you are only half way through because this is already a small novel..lol

    Part 2: Ohhh, what a long cold winter you are having! Your IG post didn't pop up in my feed for some reason. I'll hunt it down and make a comment to help the algorithm to keep you in my IG radar. Wow, what a buy on canvases! I already forgot where you said you bought them, but I am assuming Micheals. I love their canvas sales. I still have a handful of them when I last bought from their buy one get 2 free sale. I really stocked up. lol Man, those are some large canvases you got! How fun! The nearest Micheals is over a half-hour from me. Toally agree with you regarding the quin magenta. It is on every palette I have, with the exception of the adorable Schminke palette that I caved and purchased. I had to buy a couple of paints, such as an ultramarine blue, and a transparent yellow. To tell you the truth, for the money, I really prefer Daniel Smith. If I could get Schminke at a local price, I would probably be happy with it. I have a ton of Shinhan that I am going through and replacing the colors with DS. I do love moon glow, but then again, it's used almost all in sketchbooks. I am agreement with you over the concern of professional artists using it when selling original pieces. I've heard that UV glass is more protective than than UV spray, but I have no idea how accurate that info is. I wish Kim Crick would do some testing on that. Well, at the end so I will finally shut up..hahah Hope things go well for you. ttfn!

    Be careful to properly recap the jumbo posca. But if it dries out, you can soak the nib in alcohol and revive it! You should try that with the big liquitex pen, too.

    Absolutely love a good art haul!
    I can’t remember if I did comment on your last video or not, but realism stresses me out big time so I do more whimsical style in mixed media. When I work in graphite although my portraits are still whimsical, because I’m enjoying the process and in the creative flow they do look a little more semi realistic. But you have to do whatever makes you as the artist happy and sometimes that does mean exploring and trying new things. Thanks for another great video and seeing all your new supplies it’s inspired me to go and be creative 🫶🏾

    Weve been in spring for a couple of weeks here in scotland and what a treat since we had a disaster last year for sunshine.
    Im wondering if its age related as im 46 and still trying to figure out my art style. Or more appropriate refigure.
    Love a good art haul as it motivates me.
    My thoughts on lightfast are to use it for finished peices you are selling but you could use other pigments for prints you can also sell. I use any in sketchbooks but lightfast for final peices even if i dont sell my art. X

    Here in Denmark it is spring the fruit trees are blooming and the birds are singing I love this time. When your spring comes later where you live, how long is your summer? I have been using molotow acryl markers, I don't know if it is a European brand? They are Refill markers and you can change the tip, I really like them.
    I follow you on Instagram also, love both of your channels

It's not abnormal to have snow on the ground by October 31st and have it last until late April. We've even had snowstorm in May. I didn't mind it much when i was younger but its gotten harder...I might have to move eventually! Thanks for watching!

    Have you tried the Daniel Smiths water color sticks. seem to last longe than the tubes

    Have you tried the Molotow acrylic markers? The Molotow and Liquitex both have a typical chisel tip which provides for greater mark options; whereas the Posca has a somewhat rounded chisel. What issues were you having with Liquitex? I only ask because I’ve had issues with Posca.

    • @winterwoodsstudio
      @winterwoodsstudio  7 часов назад

      Every single liquitex marker I've tried has been streaky and weird. I bought one of their giant chisel.tip and it leaked everywhere. And was watery and greasy. I wasn't at all happy with it. every pasca I've tried though has been great.

    The way I see it, as long as you notify the buyer about the fugitive colours + let them know ways to prevent it (whether it be getting UV protected frames, storing the piece somwhere away from direct sun etc.) they should be fine to use. Like sure it would be cool to have a painting last 100 years but does that really matter when the person who got it is gonna be long dead by then? lol

    I you haven’t grown the extra tall sunflowers before, sometimes they don’t tell you on the seed pack, they need to be planted like at least a few feet away from other sunflowers or they won’t get that tall. They’ll still be quite tall, but not max height.

    Lightfast... hmmm... someone bought a very expensive banana attached with duct tape to a canvas??? I do want my things to stay colorful on my walls because I don't want to have to change them out? But art collectors are weird, in my opinion, and the more money they have to spend, the less they seem to care? I guess if your clothes are only in style for a year, everything must be temporary? This gal wears stretch blue jeans and tie dye tee shirts most every day. I don't really care if they are in style. They are what I have. Winters last too long the less healthy I feel. I hope spring and remission both come your way soon! 🤗

    Is there come kind of controversy with Moonglow? I love that shade!

    • @pastelsgirl
      @pastelsgirl 8 часов назад

      @jilll1287: Everybody loves that shade! But the manufacturers of this beautiful shade use a fugitive red pigment to make it. PR177 is more lightfast than PR83, but still does not have a good lightfastness. ASTM is rating PR177 as “fair”, special in watercolors, which means that paintings done using this color need extra light protection (UV glass, etc). If you don’t care about the permanence of your paintings (commission work, professional painting, etc.) then use Moonglow to your heart content.
