It's facing the camera. Besides DAZ creates a weird shape when the thumb and the index do a square angle.

what direction is your lighting coming from? It's more the lighting is casting weird shadows so it looks like a different shade

There are lots of shadows indeed. It's a HDRI. Part of the light is coming from the left (windows) and the rest from the back (open area)
