He is a supporting character from RWBY. He is the beloved and wise headmaster of Beacon Academy. In contrast to Glynda Goodwitch, he is more easygoing and lenient on the students' behavior, although he is honest about the dangers the students may encounter. He has a strong belief that his students will be able to make things better for the world. At the same time, he hopes that his students can be able to enjoy their innocence and not have to deal with the things he's had to go through. All of his staff respect him, but outside of Beacon, he is a more controversial figure with council members frequently questioning his decisions. He is a kind and gentle man, but he admits that he has made many mistakes throughout his long life and is actually keeping many secrets from even his beloved students, such as the existence of the Four Maidens of Remnant, who wield incredible power that can change the world. One of them, Amber, is being kept in Beacon's basement after she was nearly killed by Cinder. These secrets come back to haunt him and Beacon. A powerful witch known as Salem, who is his opposite philosophically and is Cinder's master, has a strong grudge against him. Cinder also discovers Amber's location and finishes off Amber. Ozpin stays behind to fight Cinder, but disappears after the invasion of Beacon. Beacon too, ends up falling to the Grimm. This leads Qrow to take over as leader of Vale's forces. He was originally intended to be played by series creator Monty Oum himself, but Monty felt his voice didn't suit the role, so he is played by Shannon McCormick instead.
